Shasimi Nauguri Baked Pork Wontons

Yield: 40 wontons Active Time: 45 minutes Cook Time: 15 minutes Total Time: 1 hour

Ingredients

  • 40 wonton wrappers

  • ½ tbsp cornstarch

  • 1 lb ground pork

  • 1 tbsp Ocean’s Halo Shichimi Togarashi seasoning

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 3 scallions; chopped

  • 1 egg; beaten

  • 1 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

  2. In a bowl, combine the seasoning, pork, soy sauce, and scallions.

  3. Spoon 2 tsp of pork filling into the center of each wonton wrapper.

  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch with equal parts water.

  5. Brush the sides of the wonton wrapper with the cornstarch mixture using a pastry brush or your finger. Fold the wrapper over and press the wonton together so a tightly sealed triangle forms. Try to press all around the pork filling so there are as few air bubbles as possible.

  6. On 2 baking sheets lined with parchment, place the sealed wontons in a row, not touching each other.

  7. In a small bowl, whisk together the beaten egg and milk. Use a pastry brush to brush the tops of the wontons with egg wash.

  8. Bake for 15 minutes until crisp and golden brown.
