How to Make Irresistible Rich Lebanese Baklava
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a baking dish with melted butter.
- In a mixing bowl, combine finely chopped walnuts, pistachios, granulated sugar, and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
- Start with a sheet of phyllo dough in your greased dish, brushing it lightly with melted butter. Repeat for five layers.
- Spread one-third of your nut mixture on top of the layered phyllo. Continue layering phyllo sheets and the nut mixture.
- Slice the baklava into diamond or square shapes before baking for easy serving and syrup absorption.
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown and flaky.
- While it bakes, combine honey, water, and remaining sugar in a saucepan. Simmer gently until thickened.
- Once out of the oven, immediately pour the hot syrup over the baklava and let it soak for a few minutes.
- Optional: Garnish with additional chopped nuts or a sprinkle of cinnamon.
