How to Make Irresistible Maple Syrup Baklava
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a deep baking dish with melted butter.
- In a mixing bowl, combine chopped walnuts, chopped pistachios, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon.
- Unroll phyllo dough and lay 6 sheets in the baking dish, brushing each with melted butter.
- Sprinkle half of the nut mixture over the first layer of phyllo, then layer 3 more buttered sheets.
- Repeat with the remaining nut mixture and finish with leftover phyllo sheets brushed with butter.
- Score the top with a knife into diamond shapes and bake for about 45 minutes until golden.
- Combine water, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and pure maple syrup in a saucepan; simmer for 10 minutes.
- Once the baklava is golden, pour the warm syrup over it and let it soak before cooling completely.
