- Rinse cranberries under cold water, checking for any soft or shriveled ones that need to be discarded.
- Combine cranberries, sugar, and apple cider vinegar in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves completely, about 2-3 minutes.
- Simmer the mixture once it starts bubbling. Add freshly grated orange zest and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, or until most cranberries have burst.
- Stir in chopped walnuts or pecans for that satisfying crunch.
- Cool the relish completely before transferring it to an airtight container. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
