How to Make Savory Citrus and Sage Roasted Turkey
  1. Brine the Turkey: Combine water, sugar, and salt in a large pot. Heat until dissolved, then allow to cool. Submerge the turkey completely for 8 hours or overnight to infuse every inch with flavor.
  2. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 325°F (165°C) for even cooking.
  3. Prepare Aromatics: Remove the turkey from the brine and pat it dry. Stuff the cavity with citrus wedges and fresh sage leaves.
  4. Baste with Butter: Brush melted butter all over the turkey and season with salt and black pepper.
  5. Roast Turkey: Place the turkey breast side up on a rack in a roasting pan. Roast for 13-15 minutes per pound or until the internal temperature hits 165°F (74°C).
  6. Rest Before Carving: Let your turkey rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.
